Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

QT Trading Lab runs two services that share one account:

• QT Trading Lab courses at learn.qttradinglab.com: trading education built around the QMS framework.
• Edge Optimizer at app.edge.qttradinglab.com: a trading journal and analytics app.

Both are operated by Michael Burtch, doing business as QT Trading Lab ("we", "us"). This policy covers both (together, "the services") and explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

2. What we collect

Account information

Your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, and the same account signs you in to both services. We never see or store your password.

Course progress (courses)

When you use the courses, we save your progress for each course to your account:

• the lessons you've completed and where you are in each lesson;
• your quiz answers, your best score for each module quiz, and a record of each quiz you finish;
• the knowledge checks you've answered and the notes you write;
• requests you make to access a course, and the access we grant.

Profile and settings (Edge Optimizer)

What you enter in your profile, such as a display name, a short description of you as a trader, your preferred coaching tone, your trading day boundary, and journal reminder settings.

Trading data you add (Edge Optimizer)

• Broker and platform exports you import (for example CSV files) and screenshots of trading tables.
• The trades these produce: instruments, times, sizes, entry and exit prices, stop-loss and take-profit levels, profit and loss, commissions and swaps.
• Trading account details such as account labels and numbers, and prop firm rules you configure.
• Strategies, playbooks, trade ideas, journal entries and the images you attach to them.

Connected sources (Edge Optimizer)

If you set up live sync or MetriX sync, the platform name, account number, sync status and trade events or excursion metrics (MAE and MFE) those connections send. Connection tokens are stored only as secure hashes.

Business ledger (Edge Optimizer)

If you use the ledger, the entries you record, such as payouts, fees, vendors, notes and receipts.

Support messages

Messages you send us through Edge Optimizer, with the part of the app you sent them from, and emails you send us.

Usage and technical information

When you first used each service, how much you use the AI features each month, which emails we've sent you, and your theme choices. Our hosting provider also records standard request information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting, and Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without using cookies.

3. How we use it

• To run the services: save your course progress and keep it in sync across your devices, manage who can open each course, import and pair your trades, calculate your statistics, store your journal, and show your data back to you.
• To power AI features you use: see AI features.
• To email you: for Edge Optimizer, a welcome message and short onboarding tips, and journal reminders if you turn them on; for either service, replies to your messages and important notices about your account or the services. If you've only used the courses, we don't send you Edge Optimizer onboarding emails.
• To keep the services secure and working: preventing abuse, investigating problems and fixing bugs.
• To improve the services: understanding which lessons and features are used, in aggregate.

We don't sell your personal information, we don't show ads, and we don't use advertising trackers.

4. AI features

Some Edge Optimizer features use Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. The courses don't use AI features. When you use one of these Edge Optimizer features, we send Anthropic the content that feature needs:

• Import mapping and import assistant: the file name, column headers, a few sample rows, and the trade rows being reviewed.
• Screenshot import: the screenshot you upload, so the trades in it can be read.
• Journal coach and assistant: the journal entries, attached images, trade details and statistics relevant to your question, and your profile's coaching preferences.

Anthropic processes this content as our service provider to generate the response. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models. AI output can be wrong; check it before relying on it.

5. Service providers

These companies process data on our behalf, only to provide their part of the services:

6. When we share data

Besides the providers above, we share personal information only:

• when you ask us to;
• when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us;
• as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the services, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.

A small number of authorized administrators can see account details, course progress and access requests, usage and support messages in order to operate the services and help you.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active.

• Course progress stays on your account while it's active. The course pages also keep a copy in your browser, which you can remove by clearing the site's data in your browser settings.
• Deleting a trading account in Edge Optimizer removes that account's trades, imports, uploaded files, journal entries and connected-source data straight away.
• To delete your whole account, including your course progress and Edge Optimizer data, email us at qttradinglab@gmail.com from the address you sign in with. We delete your data within 30 days, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation.
• Request logs and backups kept by our providers are removed on their normal schedules.

8. Your choices and rights

• Access and export: see your progress in the courses and everything in Edge Optimizer, and export your trades and excursion data as CSV files. For a copy of your course progress, contact us.
• Correct: edit your course notes, profile, trades and journal entries at any time.
• Delete: delete trading accounts in Edge Optimizer, or ask us to delete your whole account.
• Email: turn journal reminders off in your Edge Optimizer settings. To stop onboarding emails, contact us.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights, such as asking what we hold about you, objecting to certain processing, or complaining to a data protection authority. Contact us to make a request; we won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.

9. Cookies and browser storage

We use only what the services need to work.

• Sign-in: Clerk sets cookies to keep you signed in securely. Because both services share one account, signing in on one qttradinglab.com site signs you in on the other.
• Courses: the course pages save your progress, your place in each lesson and your narration voice in your browser's local storage, so your place is ready straight away and nothing is lost if your connection drops.
• Edge Optimizer: the app saves display preferences in local storage, such as theme, motion, and chart and table settings.

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to your signed-in account and authorized administrators, and connection tokens are stored as hashes. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique sign-in and tell us straight away if you think your account has been compromised.

11. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

12. Children

The services are for adults. They aren't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the services change. We'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let you know by email or in the services.
